Lub d Hostel, Bangkok

So, not the sort of thing, a hostel – but then, as the designers of this surprisingly offbeat Bangkok hostel put it, “good thing that low tech is in again”. Indeed, whilst high-end boutique properties are stripping back to exposed concrete, Bangkok’s designLAB have opted for said trends out of necessity. Rough and ready it may be – we’ll probably hold off on checking in ourselves – but Lub d masters the art of ‘fit for purpose’, offering a quirky, bright and utterly inviting atmosphere that just screams “fun” – just take the local tip illustrations in each room as an example, the perfect social ice-breaker encouraging guests to ask “what does your room suggest”. Original, engaging and intelligently conceived, this is one hostel that’s worthy of our attentions…
